Whittaker takes the reins at DISA Global Operations Command

D. Whittaker assumed command of the Defense Information System Agency Global Operations Command (DISA Global) from Army
COL Paul G. Craft during a ceremony held July 20 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
Whittaker joins
DISA Global after having served as the cyber technical director for U.S. Army
Cyber Command at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.
Army LTG Alan
R. Lynn, director of DISA and commander of the Joint Force Headquarters -DOD
Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN), presided over the ceremony, which was
attended by a number of distinguished guests, DISA Global personnel, family,
and friends.
Lynn
highlighted Craft’s leadership in the activation of DISA Global as a globally
focused operations command that leads the operation and defense of the
infrastructure that makes up the DODIN. Lynn praised Craft as being
instrumental in the smooth transition and consolidation of the command into its
new facility, which now hosts two of DISA’s cyber protection teams.
Craft has been
selected to serve as the director of operations for JFHQ-DODIN in his next
assignment.
Lynn
concluded his remarks by welcoming Whittaker, and described her as the ideal
candidate for the DISA Global’s commander based on her extensive background and
proven skills as a leader.
After
formally taking command, Whittaker thanked Lynn for the opportunity to command
DISA Global. Pledging to continue DISA Global’s hallmark of excellence in
providing globally accessible enterprise services, she closed with the words,
“COL Whittaker signing in.”
