Whittaker takes the reins at DISA Global Operations Command

Army COL Lisa D. Whittaker assumed command of the Defense Information System Agency  Global Operations Command (DISA Global) from Army COL Paul G. Craft during a ceremony held July 20 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

Whittaker joins DISA Global after having served as the cyber technical director for U.S. Army Cyber Command at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

Army LTG Alan R. Lynn, director of DISA and commander of the Joint Force Headquarters -DOD Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN), presided over the ceremony, which was attended by a number of distinguished guests, DISA Global personnel, family, and friends.

Lynn highlighted Craft’s leadership in the activation of DISA Global as a globally focused operations command that leads the operation and defense of the infrastructure that makes up the DODIN. Lynn praised Craft as being instrumental in the smooth transition and consolidation of the command into its new facility, which now hosts two of DISA’s cyber protection teams.

Craft has been selected to serve as the director of operations for JFHQ-DODIN in his next assignment.

Lynn concluded his remarks by welcoming Whittaker, and described her as the ideal candidate for the DISA Global’s commander based on her extensive background and proven skills as a leader.

After formally taking command, Whittaker thanked Lynn for the opportunity to command DISA Global. Pledging to continue DISA Global’s hallmark of excellence in providing globally accessible enterprise services, she closed with the words, “COL Whittaker signing in.”
