The Defense Information Systems Agency is scheduled to host its first College Outreach Bootcamp at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s TechNet Cyber event Wednesday, April 27, at the Baltimore Convention Center. College students, 18 and older, are encouraged to participate and can register free with promo code: CYB22STU, student ID required.

During this one-day session, students will have the opportunity to hear from and interact with current interns and recent graduates, as well as subject matter experts from various career fields such as cyber, engineering, computer science and finance.

Experts will also be available to provide information and answer questions on all things working in the federal government.

“According to a poll conducted on behalf of the Office of the Secretary Defense, less than 50% of the nation’s college students know that there are federal and DOD careers they can pursue,” said Jennifer Augustine, Strategic Outreach Office director.

In direct support of the agency’s strategic objective to empower the workforce, DISA is committed to establishing a talent pipeline of high-caliber candidates to serve as the next generation cyber workforce.

This special session will discuss various topics such as mentoring, resume writing, career opportunities and interviewing techniques.

“This event is important for students to attend because it will provide them with an upfront awareness that a normal career fair cannot give,” said Rob Barnes, Strategic Outreach Office.
