The Defense Information Systems Agency’s Hosting and Compute Center (HaCC) released the Distributed Hybrid Multi Cloud (DHMC) solicitation Monday, Sept. 11, 2023. The Other Transaction Authority (OTA) solicitation supports the agency’s initiative to modernize and transform its data centers into hybrid cloud centers.
DHMC is not a product and will not be a service offering customers can purchase separately. Instead, the DHMC OTA seeks to enhance current architecture and develop a prototype capability that complements the HaCC’s current cloud offerings, including Stratus and the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC), by enabling the delivery of hybrid cloud solutions.
The HaCC currently has multiple x86 hosting environments that are isolated and independent from each other. Each hosting environment contains different management planes and different processes. The contract awarded from the DHMC OTA solicitation will modernize server infrastructure and create a central management control plane prototype to complement current, and future, cloud offerings.
As both a consumer and provider of cloud, DISA’s HaCC is modernizing the agency’s data centers, connectivity, and communications platform to drive warfighter readiness through innovation. The HaCC led initiative to transform data centers into hybrid cloud centers will help DISA deliver better, faster and more resilient cloud solutions, resulting in a strategic advantage for the warfighter now, and on future battlefields.
