Portrait of Thomas McCulloughThomas McCullough was one of three DISA employees who spoke Feb. 9 to Scholarship for Service students attending the Worchester Polytechnic Institute about the advantages of working at DISA.

“I was hired into the agency by an SFS alumni, mentored by another, and have met many more serving in critical roles,” McCullough said. “As someone who personally benefitted so much from the program, I'm always happy to invest time into cultivating the relationship between DISA and the motivated students we must recruit to accomplish our mission.”

Originally from North Carolina, McCullough came to DISA through the SFS Program as a summer intern in May 2020. He earned a master's degree in cybersecurity at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte in Spring 2021 while working part-time at DISA, and then came on fulltime as a computer scientist.

Since joining the agency, McCullough has worked with DISA’s Public Key Infrastructure team supporting efforts to build, sustain, and modernize DoD PKI, a critical technology that enables seamless and secure information flow across the Department of Defense Information Network.

He is also a member of the Next Level Leaders Council, serving as an advocate for the next generation of leaders that will strengthen DISA’s capabilities as an agency.

“Thomas’ outreach efforts are helping us bring talent to the agency,” said Jennifer Augustine, director for DISA’s Office of Strategic Outreach and Talent Acquisition. “His knowledge and experience demonstrated to the students why DISA truly is an employer of choice.”
