After two years of unknowns and wavering paths due to COVID-19, Defense Information Systems Agency Joint Service Provider returned to the workplace in a hybrid environment.

To celebrate and unite as a workforce, Joint Service Provider hosted an Employee Engagement Day treating the workforce to a friendly bowling competition at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Bowling Center.

During the event, many employees across centers were able to meet and spend time with old and new teammates.

“The things I enjoyed about this event were meeting and seeing new people and taking a break from our regular schedule,” said Deandra Holmes, human capital specialist, Business Administration Branch.

The workforce expressed joy in the new environment, and the event provided an opportunity to build professional relationships and become stronger as a team.

“You always see some faces in the hall or even in the same suite but never get the chance to actually speak,” said Dionte McCormick, physical security analyst, Personnel and Physical Security. “This event allowed me the chance to do that. Being able to speak and meet other teammates help create better relationships, better communication and the overall comfort of knowing your team.”

Meeting and interacting in person allowed employees to bond as cohorts and get to know one another.

“We still don’t have the pre-pandemic, in-person contacts like we’ve had in the past, however, Employment Engagement Days are a great way to meet, greet and catch up with our fellow employees,” said Bobby Mills, Customer Service Center chief. “It was a great way for everyone to put a name to a face since we’ve been predominantly virtual over the last couple of years.”

In-person events can help to improve communication and allow bonds to develop, ultimately leading to a stronger culture and improved morale.

“After attending our Employee Engagement Day, I see myself being a lot more open and outspoken,” said McCormick. “I see our team becoming stronger as we begin to build closer relationships with one another, and the stronger we get the better we’ll be as a team.”
